...Corps Forces in South Korea, stands for a minute silence in tribute to the war dead in front of the statue of U.S. General Douglas MacArthur at Freedom Park in Incheon, west of Seoul September 15, 2009 as participants commemorate the anniversary of the U.S.-led United Nations troops' landing operation in Incheon during the 1950-1953 Korean War. As Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in the Pacific, MacArthur became the head of the occupation forces in Japan from their surrender in August 1945 to 1951 and went on to command the historic amphibious landing operation in Incheon in 1950 during the Korean War."
