"Nov. 9, 1979: Just five days after storming the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, militant Iranian students show off a blindfolded American hostage to a crowd outside the embassy. The Iranians who seized the embassy released 13 women and black hostages in November 1979, and in July 1980 set free another hostage who was ailing. The remaining 52 hostages would spend 444 days in captivity."
