Many see ethnic cleansing and genocide as essentially the same thing, though others say they’re different in that genocide’s primary goal is the total destruction of a group and ethnic cleansing’s purpose of creating ethnically homogeneous lands can be achieved through various means, including genocide, according to Britannica.
